½ c sugar
½ c shortening
4 egg yolks
½ c +2 T flour
1 t baking powder
4 T milk
4 egg whites, beaten
¾ c sugar
1 t vanilla
¾ c chopped nuts
Filling:
1 c cream
2 c strawberries
Cream ½ c sugar and shortening. Add egg yolks, flour, baking powder, and milk. Put in pan.
Mix egg whites, sugar, vanilla, and nuts. Put on top of batter in 2 round cake pans.
Bake at 350 for 30 mins.
Cool 5 minutes.
Remove from pan.
Cool, put layer on plate, meringue side down.
Mix filling and put on.
Add 2nd cake layer, meringue side up.
