3 eggs, beaten slightly
1 ½ c warm milk
1 c sugar
2 pkg yeast
3 c flour
3 heaping T melted shortening
3 c flour
1 ½ t salt
Filling:
1 c sugar
3 T heaping shortening, melted (or ½ c oil)
4 large oranges, use grated rind
Combine eggs, milk, sugar, yeast dissolved in ½ c warm water, and 3 c flour.
Beat with mixer until really smooth.
Add shortening and let rise until doubled (1 ½ hrs).
Add salt and 3 c flour.
Knead, then grease top of dough and turn over in bowl. Let rise.
Roll out on floured board about 1 in thick.
Spread with orange filling, then roll like jelly roll.
Cut in 1 in strips and place in greased muffin tins.
Let rise again.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
