2 c flour
2 c sugar
½ c butter
1 c water
4 T cocoa
½ c shortening
½ c buttermilk
½ t baking soda
2 eggs
1 t vanilla
Frosting:
½ c butter
6 T milk
3 T cocoa
16 oz powdered sugar
1 t vanilla

Measure flour and sugar into a large mixing bowl. Set aside.
In a medium saucepan, combine butter, water, cocoa and shortening.
Bring to a boil.
After the mixture reaches a boil, add it to the flour mixture and stir to combine.
Add buttermilk, baking soda, eggs, then vanilla in that order, mixing in-between each addition.
Pour into a greased cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
Frosting
Combine buttermilk and cocoa in a saucepan
Bring to a boil
Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
After the cake has cooked, remove from the oven and poke holes in the hot cake with a fork.
Pour frosting evenly over top.
